QQI Validated Training Providers

The PSA has been informed that the training providers in the attached link offer validated programmes leading to Guarding Skills (Code 4N1118) and Door Security Procedures (Code 4N1114) awarded by QQI. The table gives the contact details for these training providers. These revised programmes replace the Guarding Skills programme (ref C10266) and Door Security Procedures (ref C10267).

The purpose of this list is to help you locate a training provider offering the validated programme near where you live or as close as possible to where you live.

For the purposes of licensing you must hold the Guarding Skills (4N1118) and Door Security Procedures (4N1114) awards or equivalent. These programmes which satisfy licensing requirements can only be offered by registered training providers who have validated the programmes. The PSA will only accept courses or programmes validated by the QQI. Equivalent courses provided by other nationally recognised awarding bodies from other jurisdictions may be accepted; however recognition of such courses must be formally applied for through the Private Security Authority (see the FORMS page on our website to download the form PSA 13 – Recognition of Foreign Qualifications). 

The PSA will continue to accept the awards of Guarding Skills (ref. C10266) and Door Security Procedures (ref. C10267) achieved up to 31st December 2012. Holders of such awards are not obliged to re-train under the programmes validated with effect from 1st January 2013 and certification from FETAC for these programmes will still be acceptable for PSA licensing purposes.

Please note that this list may well be added to as QQI/FETAC validate additional programmes of training providers into the future and the PSA will keep this list as up to date as possible. We would advise you to check www.qqi.ie and link to http://public.fetac.ie/Pages/home.aspxto to confirm if a training provider near you has been validated or ask the training provider you are considering using, if it can demonstrate that their programme has been validated. If you want your name and contact details included on our list please send in a request by email or post with the following details:

1. The name of the organisation providing the training
2. The address, phone number(s), email address and website address of your organisation
3. The PSA prescribed courses for which you have validation
4. Evidence of confirmation from the QQI that you have b een validated
5. Confirmation whether the prescribed course is delivered on a single module basis or as part of a Major Award
